Chance to Play is taking recycling to the next level. Since 2011, hundreds of thousands of used and new soccer uniforms, soccer ball, cleats and other gear has been diverted from the landfills across Canada. This initiative started with concerned citizens and communities. It is the soccer players and their families, soccer members, soccer clubs and the community that wants to see alternative solutions to the countless soccer uniforms that sits in closets or clubhouses

What started as a simple idea to collect soccer gear for an orphanage and school in Tanzania, realizing how much was collected has started this phenomenon of avid recyclers that want to bring hope and joy to children and youth around the world. We receive donations from across Canada and distribute to communities in developing countries. With countless hours of our volunteers, we see the smiles.
From the environmental side, we have diverted over 250,000 pieces from the landfills, finding new purposes. By everyone doing their part it is a double benefit.
Team Sponsorship provides you with a special opportunity to have a unique one-to-one connection with a soccer team in one of the developing countries where Chance to Play works. As part of your sponsorship you can exchange letters and photos, and we can even arrange for video conferencing. Each year you’ll receive updates on the progress of your sponsored team, so you can see how your team is growing and learning. When you sponsor a team, your monthly donations are combined with those of other sponsors to support a wide range of soccer programs in the community. This means you are not only helping to improve the life of your sponsored team, but everyone in their community.
We love to hear soccer teams and clubs working together to fund raise for Chance to Play. There is a variety of events such as a organizing a tournament, organizing a collection and fundraiser, or planning an event at your school. We are here to help you through the planning process from beginning to end. We have tools and resources to promote your event. We are also able to come and speak and share stories from the field.
