Chance to Play started working with Ephriam who lives and in Ethiopia and helps to bring a better life communities and families. The economy of Ethiopia has been one of Africa’s most robust for the past decade, but a severe drought last year devastated food supplies for its 96 million citizens. In the face of this food and water crisis, Chance to Play committed to help farmers cultivate as much food as possible.
Our work in Ethiopia contributes to the well-being of vulnerable children in partnership with coaches and teachers. Initiatives include education, leadership skills, and soccer programs addressing the basic needs of children in Ethiopia while building the resilience of families and communities.
Soccer and Development
Children are trapped by violence, child labour, civil conflict, & forced marriage. Soccer brings unity to communities.
Girl Power
Girls and sustainable development are closely linked. We empower girls and women with education and the power to play soccer.
Education
For many children, education opens doors to all the possibilities for their future. In turn, breaking the cycle of poverty.
Climate Change
Reducing our carbon foot print through recycling and reusing soccer gear eliminates thousands of waste to our landfills.
Chance to Play team sponsorship in Ethiopia starts with understanding what is preventing children from surviving and thriving in their community. We then work with the coaches, teachers and parents to bring the pieces of the puzzle together to build a better life for all children. In Ethiopia, Canadian sponsors and donors are bringing practical, life-changing help to children in real need. Your sponsorship will help support your teams soccer equipment such as uniforms, balls, cleats and coaching gear. We will also mentor and provide programs and skills training to the coaches and teaches. As well as covering tournament fees. Many teams want to play with others but simply not able to afford it.
We are encourage staying in school and continue their education. For many children and youth, school and soccer will keep them away from gangs and conflict in the community and country.
